In class the student learns proper pronunciation, basic vocabulary and grammar, and is taught how to speak and understand the language. The best way to learn a new language is the way that small children do, through association, repetition of phrases, hearing orders, and songs; and once the student has acquired sufficient vocabulary, through role-play, oratory, story telling, and more.
